Republican President George Bush Senior labeled Ronald Reagan's "Reaganomics" as "voodoonomics" in his debates with Reagan decades ago......and our nation learned the validity of that comment later, several times, unfortunately as we were thrown first into the catastrophic "Savings & Loan Crisis" that has been grossly underestimated in history books......then into a criminal war of aggression against a nation that has proven not to have threatened the United States, but that did have oil for privatized oil and war profiteering for Bush-Cheney's Halliburton privatized to turn our public military into an army of profiteers, instead, 9/11 their "excuse"of, by, for privatized, deregulated greed of privatized cash profiteering for only 1% ......at taxpayer expense.....at the expense of those profiteers own children now and generations from now if we last that long.......
But vision and wisdom of, by, for growing a more nurturing world cannot be expected from those that limit their vision to only one privatized, deregulated bank account of only one obvious, private now of only 1%.
George Bush Senior met with Saudi financiers on the morning of 9/11 of the Ritz in Washington, D.C. to watch as the WTC towers fell on 9/11 as stock prices for war profiteers skyrocketed (and strangely the stocks for United and American Airlines were abandoned just before the planes hit the towers.....and strangely the evidence of the looting of Enron in 1999-2000 were lost forever in the dust of the WTC 1, 2 and 7 on 9/11.....) and more and more and more still uninvestigated, strangely....
Then corporations ran away with the loot as unsuspecting homeowners were left with the debt in a scam tracable to criminal schemes, scams and secrecy of, by, for privatized, deregulated corporate profiteering of, by, for only 1%.
Each Republican President since Ronald Reagan has tried to push a generic form of "trickle-down" or trickle-on the poor of "Reaganomics" of "voodoonomics" of, by, for the Richest 1% on America ...... causing economic downturns each time, between 1980 and 1992 (Reagan and Bush Senior) and between 2000 and 2008 (George Bush Junior and Dick Cheney).....forcing our definition of the word "economy" into boxes of simplistic, covert and mechanical numbers of cash into very, very simplistic and erroneous boxes of walls and barriers and oppressive assembly lines, planned economic poverty to force many into the military to fight Reagan's war profiteers' wars....blinding our vision and dumbing our empathy for others, for nature, for the diverse, for the nonself far beyond one private bank account of only one obvious now.
It is very strange that everyone could hear the rustling of looters before an "economic" "crash" but after the crash none investigated with any teeth......as the bandits thrived.....at taxpayer expense....at the expense of the bandits' own children now and generations from now.
When Democratic Presidents won the Presidential elections and assumed control, however, President Clinton and Vice President Gore in 1992 and President Obama and Vice President Biden in 2008, our economy began to recover, and we began to measure the word, "economy" in more than simple mounds, numbers of cash.
Why? Why did the "economy" thrive during times of Democratic leadership when the Republican GOP of "Reaganomics" claimed to be the political party of "business"?
Could it be that Democratic and Republican presidencies prioritize management strategies differently for our nation and world.
Could it be that the Republican GOP limits our definition of "economy" to immediate, privatized cash counts of only one obvious now?
Could it be that the Democratic leadership values the invaluable, more than private cash so that Democratic administrations nurture the world of the many, enabling the many to grow upwards toward light to prosper, to produce abundance enough to count in human cash?
Could it be that a political party that honors and respects the infinitely intricate and diverse nature of a diverse population, a public population of enormous positive potentials to grow knows how to nurture those hidden genetic potentials enough to grow riches of the earth enough to count in abundant numbers of human cash?
Could it also be that a political party that honors and respects the complexity and challenge and diverse needs of a diverse population in a diverse, abundant world of change is more able and willing to adapt to those high demands, to meet diverse needs with more diverse solutions, to tune into the real economy of diverse supplies enabling the many to consume diversity, and diverse consumption to grow diverse supplies to keep all the diverse happy.
Could it be also that a political party that understands that kings of self-proclaimed, feudal, cruel absolutist and totalitarian power of only 1% to push the many suspecting and unsuspecting down do not know everything. Yet some of 1% assume erroneously that they can push the many down to take from the many to get for the private self.....and assume erroneously that privatized cash numbers for 1% justifies all. But they are wrong, very, very wrong, wrong scientifically, wrong mathematically, wrong economically, wrong egonomically, wrong morally and often wrong legally.
Could it be that those with vision and wisdom and education and empathy are more able to understand that all share the same future together......even if the private self tries to segregate the self from the "other"...the "diverse"....the nonsame....?
As a spectator of the political drama since the election of John F. Kennedy in the 1960s as a child and youth, I have watched the very confusing, complex political and economic dramas of our world and settings in our nation very closely .... trying to make sense of the insidious.
I do remember hearing of the McCarthy inquisition during the 1950s on black and white television. I also remember clearly the efforts of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Republican President Eisenhower to warn us, our nation of the dangers of the "military-industrial complex" that so many have forgotten so much. I also remember the efforts of President Eisenhower to honor the needs of American families to put "bread and butter" on kitchen tables of Americans......"bread and butter" politics that the Republican GOP has lost since the 1950s.
Mr. Reagan and his mob brought the cash-driven into his White House in 1980, cash-driven corporateers who have stolen the home-making priorities of American families from Americans and given us the cash-driven instead, switching our priority to the top 1% of pyramid schemes, scams, secrecies and cashflow floods of a metallic corporate America that has turned us into a cash-driven corporatocracy......not a "democracy".......
My mother was a "home economics" and art teacher and my father was an industrial arts teacher in the 1950s and 1960s....and our home always had "Better Homes & Gardens" magazine on our living room tables. How quaint.
And in _________, our nation saw the image of our blue and green and white globe for the first time in human history, infecting many of my generation with a kind of awe and empathy for our planet that none in human history had ever felt before. Richard Nixon helped form the Environmental Protection Agency.....but could that have been the reason he/Gerald Ford were not elected in 1976?
President Jimmy Carter fought for the rights for many, for safe and affordable access for many to safe and affordable opportunities to enable them or any to have the opportunity to produce riches of the earth....enough to count in human cash.
Enter Ronald Reagan in 1980 with his cash-driven mob and accomplices who staged a coup to oust President Carter with manipulation of world politics in Iran.....pretending that Iran extremists had captured American hostages, foiling Carter's plans to rescue the hostages to make Carter look "weak" to win the election of 1980. The American hostages held in Iran during the close of Jimmy Carter's administration were released miraculously in January, 1981, immediately after Ronald Reagan stepped into the White House in D.C..
I laugh when thinking that my vote was swayed in the 1960s when my friend told me to vote for Nixon because he was more handsome (and later my father told me to vote for Nixon when I turned 18 and I thought I knew little).....and realized that many individuals' marks inside the ballot box on election day (or before) could be swayed by such insidious and superficial and subjective forces as a tone of voice or a smile at the right time. Wow.
I realize now that individual efforts to make our world a better place to live in often matter little in our national elections. Or do they? Economy? Education? Environment? Business? Commerce? War? Peace? What really, really matters to most? How can so many push so many buttons to destroy so many with so much power?
I began to suspect that something odd was happening when my father told me to vote for Richard Nixon in in________________ when I had seen no faults in Nixon (when I was in high school, about 17 years old) and Nixon seemed to have a glittery, flawless, glamourous, experienced, wise and shiny, spotless image...almost godlike that I thought that we needed for our nation. Of course Bobby Kennedy had been knocked off the stage so the Democratic party was still in mourning, still in grief and hardly in the mood to find a candidate to challenge Dick.
Then Watergate hit with all the undertones of deceit and manipulation of political and media strings of, by, for political and economic espionage and political and economic gain for a political party....and I learned to dig deeper than the thin, glamorous film on top of the television screen when I cast my ballot on election day. I tuned into motives dissected on mystery TV shows to learn to detect the hidden.
My father had been a war hero in World War II and I honored him greatly (even if he did have faults). He had told us many amazing stories from World War II when he escaped from the enemy as a Prisoner of War.....He told me that it was the duty of every prisoner to escape and he told me other stories that I cannot repeat....that taught me that sometimes we need to use keen individual judgement, vision, creativity, bravery, voice and resourcefulness to save the republic. As I listened very intently to him, to those war stories, political stories, I learned to pay attention to the motives for war and mobilizing entire nations. He told me when I was a child that the United States was now the most powerful nation in human history.
That was hard to believe for me as a small child....and so I began to watch many details that were relevant to that comment.....and began to notice that the world stage was very complex.
At that time, we lived in a small town in rural, green and golden Oregon where I could play for hours in the field next to our house. I remember the way that the grains of the grass split the light into golden glowing rays as I basked in the rich aroma of late summer to fill my satisfaction as a child with wonder. The dog my parents cared for assisted with this appreciation that later grew into a full-grown love of nature's rich productivity of habitat that nurtures small children and critters of sizes and shapes......and plants.
Since that one afternoon as a very, very young child that filled me with a divine kind of inspiration (breath), I have fought to defend the land and the lives from those that destroy lives and land, that destroy the ability and will of lives and land to seek water, air, light, soft, rich, organic, nurturing soil, green habitat, forests, wetlands, prairies, oceans, climates to buffer and protect and feed and nurture us.
But some just don't get it.
Some have found only harsh, violent urban walls and barriers of concrete, asphalt, steel that shapes the insensitive.
I just hope that the primitive in each of us can guide us out of this mess.
